Table Numbering
Overview
All Work extended tables, such as Incident managementIncident, ITSM Request managementITSMRequest, Change ManagementChange and Problem managementProblem, have auto sequenced numbering function that applies unique numbers for each record created in each table.
Number prefix
Each auto sequenced table number has its own prefix, examples below:
Table | Prefix |
|---|---|
Incident | INC |
ITSMRequest | REQ |
Change | CHG |
Problem | PRB |
Number prefix changes are typically done on custom applications AND before they are live. Changing a prefix for a process that is already live may cause confusion with your users and agents.
To configure, go to SequenceNumber by navigating to Application > Table > Table numbering

To change a prefix, go to the record definition for your table, e.g. for Change, below:

You can then change the "Sequence prefix" to your choosing and click on Save
Number reset
This should only be needed before a process goes live, e.g. after creating a number of test tickets/records, you may want to delete them and restart the auto sequence number back from 1.
To do a sequence number restart/reset, go to the Sequence number record for the table, per the instructions above with "Number prefix", and then click on the "Open number pool".
The form will show the sequence's "Last number". To reset:
- Set "Last number" to 0
- Click Save
Screenshot below shows an example for Change (CHG):
